Dr. Cynthia Husted, PhD, is a medical researcher and the founder and president of the Science and Spirit Institute. She has had a varied and integrative approach to scientific research during the past 40 years with approaches in physics, neuroscience, traditional, integrative and functional medicines, including longstanding interests in the concepts of energy as relates to healing from perspectives in physics and traditional medicines, particularly from the view of Tibetan medicine. The recent formation of the 501(c)3 non-profit the Science and Spirit Institute is the culmination of her lifelong interests in physics and research with a focus on healthy longevity and restoring balance in chronic illness, including autoimmunity, neurological disorders, autism spectrum, mood disorders, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Her approach is on the mind, body, spirit connection to all through better understanding of the universal unlimited energy.
Dr. Amy Banter serves as Vice President of the Science and Spirit Institute. She has been practicing as a medical doctor in Indiana since 1995 and is a certified 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher as well as certified in Reiki 1. Dr. Amy and Dr. Cynthia have been collaborating since 1989 through basic scientific research, clinical research of integrative medicine such as studies in Tibetan medicine and Functional medicine, and currently through the Science and Spirit Institute. Her 28-year experience as a family medicine physician includes teaching family medicine residents and medical students. Her recent Holistic Primary Care medical practice, OPT2LIV Medical, was co-founded with her husband, Eric, in the Geist area. Dr. Amy is a clinical researcher for the Science and Spirit Institute and research studies with the Science and Spirit Institute will be conducted in collaboration with their clinic.
Richard Ennis is the Treasurer and a researcher for the Science and Spirit Institute. Richard has degrees in Biology, Environmental Science, and Biochemistry and was a Senior Research Scientist working on antiviral therapies. He was recently on the Board of the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute for eight years, serving as Treasurer for two years and President for six years, and has a Rolfing practice on Whidbey Island. Richard continues his practice as an Advanced Rolfer and is focused on fascial manipulation, movement patterns and neuroplasticity for pain reduction. Richard is also researching various energy devices (cold lasers, Neubie direct current device) to improve health and function.
Nisrine Tarraf is a board member of the Science and Spirit institute. She is a Transformational Wellness and Nutrition Expert, bestselling author, and member of the Institute for Functional Medicine. With a focus on self-love, mindfulness, and a holistic approach, Nisrine helps individuals connect with their true selves to achieve optimal well-being. Her expertise in energy healing, Reiki, and Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) allows her to restore balance, unlock healing abilities, transform limiting beliefs, and aligns with the vision of the Science and Spirit Institute.
