In 2006, Dr. Husted presented at a meeting on Longevity, Regeneration, and Optimal Health: Integrating Eastern and Western Perspectives, organized by the Tibet House and Columbia University. Two of her publications that resulted from this meeting were included in Volume 1172 of the Annals of the New York Academy of Science and have received considerable international attention, including being a consultant to the World Health Organization on benchmarks for Tibetan and Chinese medicines. She has implemented the Tibetan medical approaches to longevity in the clinic by integrating them with approaches in functional medicine and observing considerable beneficial results. She has learned that sequence and dose are key and these are reviewed in her paper co-authored with Dr. Lobsang Dhondup on Tibetan Medicine and Regeneration.
At that same meeting, Dr. Husted met and visited with Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn, the discoverer of telomerase for which she obtained the Nobel Prize. The length of our telomeres can shorten with aging. Six years later in 2012, commercial labs began offering telomere testing and Dr. Husted did the testing on herself. At the time she was very ill while still recovering from a near-lethal black widow spider bite (please see videos in Resources section) and was doing considerable interventions to restore balance to her body. At the time, she was age 55 and her telomere testing indicated she was the biological age of 55 and she was happy that she was holding steady despite being so ill. Ten years later, the technology evolved to include both telomeres and a rate of aging, and her biological age was nine years younger than her chronological age so she had anti-aged. One year later, she re-tested her telomeres and rate of aging and had anti-aged another nine years such that her chronological age was 66 and her biological age was 48. Her primary intervention during that year had been to improve sleep, based on Dr. Banter's and the OPT2LIV four pillars of Breathe – Eat – Move – Sleep. She had already been exploring the uses of food as medicine, Tibetan medicine, functional medicine, Erchonia cold lasers, and the Neubie direct current device. Sleep is key for our wellbeing and longevity and can be nurtured.
As we support those with neurological disorders in collaboration with the Goodenowe Institute and explore the uses of the energy devices described in this section, we seek to obtain before and after measurements of biological age due to the effects of our interventions for those with neurological disorders and those seeking healthy longevity.
